The 2020 Australian Pain Society 40th Annual Scientific Meeting will be held from 5 – 8 April 2020 the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart.
Here are just a few things we are excited about:
The Scientific Program Committee has an exciting program in store for the 2020 ASM. We welcome three remarkable International Keynote Speakers: Dr Janet Bultitude from University of Bath, United Kingdom; Professor John F. Cryan from University College Cork, Ireland; and Dr Erin E. Krebs from University of Minnesota, USA. For a full list of plenary speakers and to view the program, please visit the conference website.
Just like the old-school Milk Bar, you have the option to pick ‘n’ mix your pre-conference workshop selection. For example, you may want to attend the Fundamentals of Pain Workshop in the morning and then head over to the Pain in Childhood afternoon session. This gives you the freedom to customise your conference experience.
- Acute Pain (AM)
- Pain in Childhood (AM)
- Basic Pain Research
- Fundamentals of Pain
- Acute Pain (PM)
- Pain in Childhood (PM)
- Pharmacology in Pain Management
- Physiotherapy in Pain Management
We have a number of exhibitors and sponsors supporting APS 2020, without whom this conference would not be possible. Learn about new and innovative products and technologies on the market throughout the meal breaks.
Pick the Brain of a Pain Researcher!
Have you ever wanted to ask a well-known researcher – how did you know this was for you? How did you know what opportunities to say yes to and what to say no to? If you have wanted to ask, now is your chance!
This session is for early career researchers, and includes networking opportunities with the following international experts:
- Dr Janet Bultitude, Psychology Department and Centre for Pain Research at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom
- Professor John F. Cryan, Dept. of Anatomy & Neuroscience, University College Cork, Ireland
- Dr Erin Krebs, Minneapolis Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Care Delivery and Outcomes Research, University of Minnesota Medical School, USA
- Mark Hutchinson, Centre for Nanoscale BioPhotonics, University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia
Only 20 minutes’ from Hobart, join us at one of Tasmania’s most unique and beautiful venues – Glen Albyn Estate. Revel in a back drop of water-bound lush Tasmanian bush land while you indulge in 3 courses of delicious local flavours and wines.
With plenty of time for dancing (of course!), the Gala Dinner is always considered a highlight of the conference, don’t miss out!
Take time out from the action packed ASM for social networking opportunities.
The Monday Night social activity returns in 2020 at the Post Street Social. Enjoy a complimentary drink on arrival before ordering a fresh delight from their extensive menu.
There are also limited spots available on Monday evening for a personalised guided tour of Parliament House with Hon. Michael Gaffney, MLC.
On the final day of the conference, delegates are invited to join us on a tour of MONA Excursion. It wouldn’t be a trip to Hobart without a trip to one of the most infamous museums of the world!
From the Brooke St Pier, hop on board MR-I or MR-II, one of MONA’s camouflaged catamarans, visit one of the on-board bars and take a seat on a tiger or a sheep for the 25 minute trip to MONA. Once there you will have about 3 hours to explore the museum before taking the 5.00 pm ferry back to Brooke St Pier.
